This summer at Limewood, excitement built as we prepared for our annual Summer Fete, which took place on Saturday 6th September and what a fantastic day it turned out to be!

The fete offered something for everyone to enjoy, with a wonderful selection of stalls featuring handmade crafts, sweet treats and delicious homemade bakes including shortbread, lemon cake, cupcakes, and hot dogs. Refreshments were served from our tropical-themed tiki bar, where favourites such as apple punch, orange punch, shandy, gin and lemonade were all enjoyed throughout the day.

There was plenty of laughter as residents, families and visitors took part in classic games including hook-a-duck, beach ball knockout, lucky dip, and ball in the bucket. For those looking for a bit of extra fun, there was face painting available and even a surprise visit from Minnie Mouse, which was especially popular.

One of the highlights of the day was a visit from Farm on Wheels, giving everyone the chance to meet a variety of animals up close. Residents and guests loved spending time with Racket the donkey, Honey and Sprinkles the nanny goats, as well as bunnies, guinea pigs and even a cheeky rat. It was a wonderful opportunity for interaction, sparking smiles and conversation all around.

Celebrations like the Summer Fete are about more than just a day of fun, they are a chance for residents, staff, families, and the local community to come together. These events help to strengthen connections, create shared memories, and provide opportunities for laughter and joy that benefit everyone. For residents, they offer stimulation, social interaction, and a sense of belonging. For families, they provide a warm and welcoming way to share in life at Limewood, and for our staff, they are a reminder of the joy their hard work brings to the people they care for.

The fete was a true celebration of community and togetherness, filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of special moments. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success, and to all the families and friends who joined us in celebrating.
