At Limewood Care Home, we believe everyone should have the chance to explore, discover, and experience new things and our Armchair Travel series continues to make that possible in the most joyful way. The residents have now travelled to a fantastic range of destinations, each brought to life with themed décor, food, music, and entertainment.

Our brilliant activities team transform the cinema room into a new location each time, while our talented chef prepares delicious dishes inspired by the destination. These thoughtful touches ensure each trip feels immersive, exciting, and engaging.

Here is a look at some of the recent adventures:

Germany

Residents explored the beauty and culture of Germany, from grand castles to picturesque cities, while enjoying hot chocolate, pretzels, and crisps. A perfect combination for a cosy winter escape.

Nigeria

Led by our own Funmi, this vibrant visit introduced everyone to traditional Nigerian culture, music, and clothing. The chef produced an incredible menu including puff puff, plantain, chicken skewers, coconut rice, and a stunning red velvet cake. It was a real celebration of heritage and flavour.

Disneyland

Residents enjoyed a magical afternoon escaping into the world of Disney, with a virtual tour, favourite songs and themed treats including churros with chocolate dip, chocolate pretzels, mini doughnuts, fluffy marshmallows, and a refreshing citrus mocktail.

Peru

Our Peruvian adventure took everyone on a journey through breathtaking scenery, traditional dress, and lively music. Everyone also enjoyed alongside fresh clementine and mango smoothies.

Amsterdam

A sweet escape to Amsterdam offered warm pancakes, waffles, fresh strawberries, and fruity wine. A delicious nod to Dutch café culture.

Greece

Residents admired the stunning Mediterranean sights while tucking into feta salad, Mediterranean vegetable crisps and a choice of red wine or kiwi lemonade. After exploring the ancient world, the afternoon ended with giggles while watching Carry On Cleo.

Paris

Our Paris trip included a classic cheese and fruit board paired with a glass of rosé. The day continued with a beautiful concert by the Three Tenors, adding the perfect touch of romance and culture.

These sessions do more than simply entertain. They:
